Legislative Session
Throughout my first legislative term—as well as during the period between legislative sessions—I have been
working diligently in representing District 54’s residents, families and neighborhoods on issues that effect our lives
so many different ways. Despite my ongoing involvement in Constitutional Reform, transportation, and other issues that demand leadership and results, my work has specifically
targeted two key legislative priorities: poverty and education.
There
has been a great deal of work undertaken over the past year and I look forward to sharing that with you both in these web
pages and in conversation with you. Our 2008 Legislative Session began on February 5th and there has been a lot of activity
and progress made on a number of fronts. I invite you to take a look at the legislation set forth in this Session by going
to the Alabama Legislature's online system known as ALISON; you may also check out the bills I have sponsored and cosponsored by clicking here.
In the meantime,
please know how appreciative I am for all the work so many undertake here in Birmingham to help build strong, safe neighborhoods
and strong, healthy families.
Help keep me informed of activities
and events in the District and never hesitate to contact me with your concerns, frustrations, creative ideas and solutions.
My
door is always open to you.
